Dr Ashmika Gokhul is a specialist paediatrician based at Life The Crompton Hospital. She  has admission rights at Life Westville Hospital, Life Entabeni Hospital, Netcare St Augustine Hospital and Netcare Parklands Hospital.

She qualified as a Medical Doctor in 2006 at the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine , UKZN. During this time she was a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Golden Key International Honour Society is the world’s largest honour society that connect high-achieving individuals locally, regionally & globally with lifetime opportunity, reward & success. The Society focuses on academic excellence, leadership development and community service.

She realised her passion for Paediatrics during her 2-year internship training at R K Khan Hospital , Durban in 2007 and 2008.

She then served 1 year of Community Service at a rural Community Health Centre in Sundumbili , Ilembe District in 2009.

Thereafter Dr Gokhul worked as Paediatric Medical officer at Stanger Hospital and R K Khan Hospital for a year before joining the Registrar programme in 2011 to realise her dream and specialise in Paediatrics.

After 4 years of speciality training at all the major Durban Regional/Tertiary/Quaternary Hospitals – Dr Gokhul Qualified as a Specialist Paediatrician in 2014.

Dr Gokhul worked at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Inkhosi Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban for 3 months before joining the consultant team at Stanger Hospital, ILembe district. It was during this time that Dr Gokhul completed her Masters In Medicine , 2016.

After just over 2 years as a specialist paediatrician in the Public sector Dr Gokhul entered into Private Practice.

Services provided by the practice include (but not limited to) the following :

  • Management of all acute and chronic general paediatric or neonatal conditions
  • Newborn attendance and care (Caesarean sections/NVD)
  • Preventative care consults (including vaccinations, growth and developmental assessments)
  • Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care
